Issue 5 Corrections, Updates, etc.

March 28th, 2008 by bbr | Posted in General

Below is a list of some updates and corrections we’ve made to Issue 5 since it first came out. All the changes have been made, but if you scoped the mag when it first came out you might have seen it before we made these updates.

- Two shots in the Sammy Garcia interview were mistakenly credited to Steve Sandoval when they were actually taken by the talented photographer and bodyboarder Andrew Westerman. The black & white stand-up hack and the prone barrel water shot (with the cliffs in the background) were both by Mr. Westerman. Sorry about that Andrew we owe you a beer.

- In the Light Gallery, the unknown Oceanside dropkneer (in the shot by Chris Burkard) has been identified as San Diego DK shredder Wally Sani.

- In the Pipeline contest article, we mistakenly identified the dude doing the roll at Backdoor as Michael Novy when it was in fact Spencer Skipper.

- We accidentally named photographer Tony D’Andrea as Tony Andrea throughout the mag. We appologize for this mistake, especially considering Tony hooked us up with so many epic shots. Thanks Tony!

- When the mag first came out we didn’t credit Nick Statom for the Ben Player video edit on the first page of his interview.

- We’ve reformatted the Expedition ad so the video is quite a bit bigger now.

- We added a sequence of Tyler Wiemann getting a long barrel in the first page of the Short Bus article.

The North Shore Chronicles 2/19

February 19th, 2008 by Joshua | Posted in General

Contest is on and it isn’t small either. Second reef bombs every now and again and a good show of talent is doing their thing this morning with Naoshi Grady getting top honors with the second reef double up bomb pit. Don’t ask me how the contest went down as I was not feeling it being there for most of the day. I strained a hip socket area, my sacro-iliac joint to be more precise, and it has caused me to forfeit my drop knee slot to someone more adequately physically qualified for the position. In my first heat I just didn’t get the right waves. I got a sizable drainer that pinched at the end and a semi decent scorable tube that wierded out. Other than that my waves were lackluster and all I needed was a 2. something. Oh well, that’s what I get going into an event without a clear and present destination emotionally. Always something to learn. Other than that the waves were remarkable and I’m sure pipeline on surfline is the cam of the day. Like I predicted. PUMPING!!! ALL!!!!!! WEEK!!!!! And I’ll do it again somewhere soon!!
